Jeanette Winterson
Jeanette Winterson is a British novelist, essayist, and short story writer. She was born in Manchester, England, in 1959. Winterson’s work is often characterised by its themes of gender, sexuality, and identity. She has been open about her own experiences of growing up as a lesbian and being adopted. Winterson’s writing has been praised for its lyrical prose and its exploration of complex emotional themes. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Whitbread Award and the Orange Prize for Fiction.
Winterson’s novel “Kersen kruisen” was published in Dutch in 1999. It is a translation of her novel “Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit”, which was published in English in 1985. The novel tells the story of a young girl growing up in a Pentecostal family. Winterson’s writing style is lyrical and evocative, and she uses imagery and symbolism to create a vivid and memorable narrative.
